The Archaeological site in Breaza

Due to archaeological research made in the southern side of the Breaza locality, dacian traces were found in Negru's Voda fortress.

At the foot of "Cetatui" is a large civil settlement, now entirely destroyed by the work of planting an orchard. Here, large block of stone, specific to the feudal area were found, and Greek briks. This is a sign that a stone tower was built in here in the Dacian era. The ceramic objects date from the I BC – I AD century.

It says that the fortress was destroyed by fire during the Daco-Roman wars. There were found 10 silver Roman Republican denarii in,, Head Tower ", which dates from 129 BC and 38 AD. Later discovered were 212 dinars and other currencies Dacian. Parts are at the Museum of Fagaras, "Valer Literat ". 10 silver republican dinars were found in here at Capul Turnului. Later on another 212 dinars and a dacian coin was found and they are now exposed at Valer Literat Museum from Tara Fagarasului.

Cetatea negru Voda from from Breaza

The relics of the medieval fortress are 22 km away from Fagaras and 2 km away from the Breaza locality. The fortresses' ruins, attributed to the legendary Negru Voda, are situated on a cape at the south side from Breaza locality, where you can see Coltii Brezei. The archaeological researches stated that the fortified complex dates from the 13th century and it is mentioned that it had two construction phases: initially two circular towers were built with a diamter of 2.5 cm and thick walls of 2.2 m. Then the center of the fortress was built of stones with a perimeter of 84 m, surrounded by earth walls for defense. The fortress was probably left in the 15th century.

The appearance of two cylindrical towers indicates a southern influence in the construction system, which explains that the place was possessed by the Muntenia inhabitans.
